Frederick W. Hodgman, 81, of North Street, East Rindge died Tuesday April 19, 2011 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a period of failing health.

He was born June 14, 1929 in Nashua NH son of the late Frederick J. and Myrtle (Sangher) Hodgman. Fred grew up in Lowell, MA and had attended Lowell Schools.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict, from which he received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars.

He lived in East Rindge and was employed as a mechanic at Hollingsworth and Vose in Groton, MA for more than thirty two years. In 1989 he moved to Cave City, KY where he lived until returning to Rindge in 2005.

Fred was an avid hand gun enthusiast and loved the out of doors. As a younger man he played softball with his sons in the Jaffrey Softball League.

He was married to Mary K. (Patterson) Hodgman who died June 12, 1995.

He is survived by three sons Michael F. Hodgman and his wife Suzi of Oceanside, California, Frederick A. Hodgman and his wife Anna of Troy, NH and Paul J. Hodgman and his wife Karen of Rindge; five grandchildren Carrie Ann Nichols of Battle Ground Washington, Jason Hodgman of Troy NH, James Hodgman serving with the U.S. Air Force in Nebraska, Amanda Hodgman of Ashburnham MA and Holly Hodgman of Rindge; five great grandchildren Alyssa Nichols, Josiah Nichols, Samantha Nichols, Elijah Nichols and Amani Hodgman.

Burial will be with his wife in the Cave City Cemetery, Cave City KY.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
