George A. Hill, 68, of Rindge, NH passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, NH. George was born on September 14, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio to Lula Mae Ogden. He lived in Rindge for the past 22 years with his partner Kim McCummings and most recently he was a resident of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Jaffrey, NH from issues related to his four year battle with cancer. George was raised by his grandmother in Russellville, KY and graduated from Russellville High School, where he ran track, and achieved All State recognition in basketball and football. He graduated from Bellarmine University, Louisville, KY in 1965 with a double major in Psychology and Biology/Premed. While at Bellarmine he played basketball and was an Honorable Mention All American 1962-63, all KIAC 1963 and 1964, led the team to its first NCAA bid in1963, was Oglethorpe all Tournament in 1964, and was a 1983 inductee to the Bellarmine University Athletic Hall of Fame. George was drafted into the Army and following basic training at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio Texas, he was a posted to Tripler General Hospital, Mental Hygiene Consultation Service, Honolulu, Hawaii, as a Psychology Specialist from 1968-1970. He returned to his academic pursuits and completed a Predoctoral Internship at Langley Porter Neuropsychiatric Institute at the University of California, San Francisco in 1974, a MA in Psychology in 1977 and a PhD in Psychology in 1979 both from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL. George was a clinical psychologist and taught and practiced through the 70’s and 80’s at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, Rend Lake College, Ina, IL, College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA, Harvard University, Commission on Extension Courses, Cambridge, MA, University of Lowell, Lowell, MA, Emanuel College, Boston, MA, Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA, Worcester State Hospital, Worcester, MA, Counseling and Family Services, Inc. in Brockton and Medford, MA, and the Northeastern University Counseling and Testing Center, Boston, MA. George loved spending time with and talking with his kids and the apple of his eye, grand daughter Olivia. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, with a strong interest in Italian and British bikes. He was a past member of the Italian Motorcycle Owners and Laverda Owners group and, by default with Kim, the BMWMOA and Yankee Beemers group. He enjoyed riding, going to races, swap meets and rallies and attended local and regional events, either on two wheels or four. He also was into cars, mostly classics with the Pontiac GTO being his favorite domestic and Jensen Healy his favorite British car. In addition, he was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to all types of music, playing at playing his guitar and would travel great distances for good ice cream, waffles and pancakes. He is survived by his children, Brian Hill of Worcester, MA, Kevin Hill and partner Joanna Gregg of Monticello, IL, Quinlan Hill of Worcester, MA; Katharine Hill-Barnett and husband Brad Barnett of Victorville, CA and Irene Hill of Russellville, KY; his former wife, Martha Hill of Worcester, MA; brothers, William Hill of San Diego, CA, Reginald Hill and wife Laurene of Louisville, KY; sisters, Audrey Nobbin of Covington, KY, Marie Baldwin of Columbus, GA, and Viola Belmont and husband Marion of Paducah, KY; three grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews and several grand nieces. He was predeceased by his mother, Lula Mae Ogden, his maternal grandparents John and Ellen Mae Lacey of Russellville, KY; and a brother, John Robert Hill.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River St, Jaffrey, NH. Following the service a reception will be held at the Rindge Recreation Center, 283 Wellington Rd, Rindge, NH.
