Gerald B. Harrington, 73, of Peterborough and formerly of Hancock, NH, died peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Monadnock Community Hospital after a period of declining health.
Gerald was born on June 4, 1941 in Peterborough, son of Walter and Natalienne (Blake) Harrington. He attended Hancock Elementary School and graduated from the former Peterborough High School.
Gerald had always worked in the Hancock area, primarily at Hopkinton’s Grain Mills. Tractors were a passion for him, tinkering on them, collecting them and enjoying time spent visiting all of the old tractor events in the area like the New England Tractor and Engine Meet in Greenfield. He also enjoyed drawing and sketching.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his son Shawn Harrington in 1985.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Maureen and her husband Jeff Durgin, and Christine and her husband Jamie Jarest, all of Bennington, NH; a daughter Meaghan and son Christopher in Alabama; his 4 grandchildren, Chad, Travis, Justine and Taylor; his sister Martha and her husband Bud Wilder of Hancock, NH; his brother Richard and his wife Chris Harrington of New Boston, NH, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At Gerald’s request, there will be no calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
