Harry J. Groezinger

Harry J. Groezinger, 83, formerly of Rindge, NH died on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jaffrey from complications resulting from a courageous battle with Alzheimers disease.

He was born on September 21, 1925in Lynbrook, NY, son of the late Jacob and Caroline (Schreyer) Groezinger and was a 1944 graduate of the Valley Stream Central High School, Valley Stream, NY. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and after being honorably discharged, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Ann Roome on June 17, 1950. Mr. Groezinger then went back to school and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Architecture from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.

Mr. Groezinger was an accomplished architect and worked for Carl Petrilli Associates in New York. He began at the company as a Draftsman while still in school, andafter becoming a Licensed Registered Architect, he became a partner in the firm. He loved his work and after 35 years in the profession, he retired as vice president of the firm in 1985.

Mr Groezinger enjoyed designing and building everything from furniture to fine homes. He began by building his familys home in Huntington, NY.Mr. Groezinger designed and built four of his homes over the years. He and his wife Phyllis began their retirement by restoring a 200 year old farm house in Rindge, NH.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, PhyllisR. Groezinger of Jaffrey; his four daughters, Wendy and her husband Richard Daley of West Rutland, VT; Laurie and her husband Stevens Goldsmith of Surry, NH; Sally and her husband Roger Turcotte, Sr. of Boise, Idaho; Holly Merrill of Glenmont, NY; his son Scott Groezinger and his wife Diane of Schenectady, NY; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers Activities Fund, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452, or to the First Congregational Church and Society, Post Office Box 451, Rindge, NH 03461

At Mr. Groezingers request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the First Congregational Church and Society in Rindge Center. Rev James Melhorn, Pastor will officiate.
