Hazel B. Keenan, 89, of Libby Court Jaffrey, formerly of Peterborough, died peacefully at her home on Sunday April 18, 2010 surrounded by her family.
She was born March 1, 1921 in Peterborough, daughter of the late John H. and Velida (Burnett) Brenner. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Peterborough High School where she was a star basketball player on the girls basketball team.
Mrs. Keenan worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Peterborough for over seventeen years.
She and her husband enjoyed Snowmobiling in the Pittsburg NH area
She had taken several cruises in the eastern Caribbean and once cruised to Bermuda with over twenty family and friends. Most cherished to Hazel was the time she spent with her family, especially with her great-grandchildren.
On September 15,1941 she married her husband of fifty seven years, Martin J. Keenan Jr. He died June 14, 1998.
She is survived by her two sons Thomas B. Keenan of Peterborough and Kevin P. Keenan of Rindge; two grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; a sister Shirley Burrage of Jaffrey; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son John Martin Keenan in 1962 as well as her sisters Pearl Bishop in 2000 andChristine B. Hill in 2006.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hospice at HCS, Post Office Box 496, Peterborough New Hampshire 03458
Private graveside committal services will be at the convenience of the family in St. Peters Cemetery Peterborough.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours.
