Helen 'Terri' Burgoyne Smith

Helen ‘Terri’ (Burgoyne) Smith, 55, of Jaffrey, NH passed away peacefully on September 13, 2013 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a long and courageous battle. Born on May 5, 1958 in Peterborough, NH to Oliver ‘Burgie’ Burgoyne and Jean (Grant) Bergeron, Terri grew up in Jaffrey and graduated in 1977 from Conant High School. Terri worked in the assembly division at Teleflex while living in Jaffrey, and upon moving to Florida in 1992, she entered the hospitality field and cared for guests throughout Florida at several hotels. Terri moved back to New Hampshire in 2007 and continued her nurturing ways welcoming guests at the E.F. Lane Hotel in Keene Terri loved to cook and was always sharing her talents in the kitchen with her mother. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud of her children and always enjoyed sharing their accomplishments. She married Robert ‘Ed’ Smith on May 30, 1993. He predeceased Terri on July 26, 2000. Terri is survived by her mother, Jean Bergeron and husband Richard, of Jaffrey; her step-father, Joseph LaFreniere of Jaffrey; her daughter Nakia and husband Paul Evans of Fort Myers, Florida; her step-children, Robin Rochelle of Naples, Fla, Shannon Smith of Mass, and Justin Smith of Troy, NH; 10 grandchildren; her brothers, Timothy LaFreniere, Melvin Burgoyne and Michael Burgoyne, all of Jaffrey, NH and her sister Valerie Stewart of Helena, GA as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including her longtime friend and companion, Bruce Caron of Winchester, NH. A Celebration of Terri’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.
