RINDGE, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Hilbert "Bud" Olson, Jr., 80, died peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2007 at his home in Rindge surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 4, 1926 in Waltham, MA, the son of Hilbert A. and Hazel (Hague) Olson.

He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy, and had served in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Twiggs.

He graduated from Waltham Trade School and attended college on the GI Bill.

He married Marian (Butler) Olson in 1948 and made his home with his family in Sudbury, MA.

He retired from Digital Equipment Corporation to his home in Rindge, NH. He spent many years building the house from start to finish. In his retirement years he enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and traveling.

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Doris Suppers, a daughter-in-law Jeanne Olson.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marian J. Olson and his four children, Richard E. Olson of Rindge, NH, Karen Bomba-Watson of North Oxford, MA, Nancy Knuuttila and her husband Mark of Rindge, NH and Peter A. Olson and his wife Sherry of Jaffrey, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gwendalyn Bomba, James Bomba and his wife Gail, Eric Olson and his wife Carrie, Valerie Bomba, Heidi Reed and her husband Casey, Sarah Kalagher, Chad Kalagher, Leigha Olson, Robert McLaughlin, Brittany Watson, Ryan McLaughlin, Tori McLaughlin, and Jeffrey Olson; and his great-grandchildren, Jordan Bomba, Tony Bomba, Miranda Bomba, Cecilia Bomba, Ethan Reed and Liam Reed, Matthew, Julie Olson and Sofia Bomba.

Friends and family are warmly invited to calling hours on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 South) Jaffrey.

Spring Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the form of a donation for, or a sponsorship of Mr. Olson'™s daughter Nancy Knuuttila in her 24-hour walk for cancer which will be held in Boston on May 19-20.
