Homer C. Paradise, 81, of Evans Road in Peterborough died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on August 29, 2009.

Mr. Paradise was born on December 24, 1927 in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, son of the late Oliver and Delvina (Blair) Paradise. He was raised in Jaffrey and received his education there as well.

Mr. Paradise faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army following World War II. He was a member of the John Humiston American Legion Post #11 in Jaffrey.

He married Thelma Mae Zabriskie on June 5, 1948 and began raising his family in Peterborough.

Mr. Paradise operated his own construction business for many years before going to work for the Peterborough Recreation Department where he retired from.

He was a multi-talented man, a true craftsman and could fix anything. He lived for his garden and even though his health was failing, he still managed to grow a bumper crop of cucumbers and tomatoes this year.

Mr. Paradise is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma (Zabriskie) Paradise of Peterborough; his daughter Debra and her husband Tom Belcher of Bennington, NH; his son John Paradise and his wife Brenda of Bennington, NH; 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; his brother Alfred Paradise of Jaffrey, NH and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice Inc., 391 West Street, Keene, NH 03431.

Burial will take place after the servicein the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours which will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2009 from 1:00 PM to 2:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH.

Funeral Services will immediately follow calling hours at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Robert Hamm, Chaplain of Beacon Hospice in Keene will officiate.
