Howard G. Brown, 86, formerly of Leominster, MA died peacefully Thursday May 30, 2013 at the Baldwinville Nursing Home in Templeton MA following a prolonged illness. He was born March 11, 1927 in Leominster, son of the late Everett O. and Mary P. Brown. Howard was a 1945 graduate of Leominster High School where he excelled in sports. He was a star pitcher for the Leominster High School Blue Devils. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as Seaman First Class in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Brown has been a resident of Templeton for the past two years, having previously lived in Gardner and before that in Leominster for sixty two years. Mr. Brown was a retired employee of Fitchburg State University following more than twenty years of employment. Previously, he had worked as a home delivery milk man for Dairy Brothers and Clover Hill Farms of Leominster. Howard was an avid fan of all New England sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. He also coached many youth athletic teams in Leominster. Howard was a devoted father and grandfather. He most cherished the time he spent with his family, and was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. Survivors include his wife of sixty one years Anne E. Brown of Gardner; three daughters Nancy A. O’Loughlin and husband James of Rindge, Joan Lewis and husband David of Easton MA, and Betty Brown of Westminster, MA; a son Michael Brown and his wife Patricia of Laurel, MD; a brother Malcolm Brown of Westminster, MA; two sisters Myrtle Harvie and Joanne Miller both of Leominster MA; six grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mr. Brown’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) in Jaffrey NH on Monday June 3, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00PM.

Funeral Services with full military honors will be conducted at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street in Winchendon, MA on Tuesday June 4,2013 at 10:00AM. Rev. David Jadlocki, pastor of the First Congregational Church and Society of Rindge will officiate.
