Ian A. Meiklejohn

December 17, 1967 — March 17, 2018

Ian A. Meiklejohn, 50, of Peterborough, died peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Ian was born on December 17, 1967 in Brisbane, Australia, the son of the late Roy and Gladys (Gallogly) Meiklejohn. Ian received his education in Cairns, Queensland, Australia, graduating from the Brisbane Boys Grammar School and the Mitchelton State High School where he had played the lead role in Brigadoon. He also attended James Cook University and was a star Rugby player for many years.

Ian married Anne Grant on June 15, 1999 and cherished the time spent with family and especially with his children.

Ian is survived by his wife of 19 years, Anne; his daughter, Erin and his son, Thomas, all of Peterborough; his sister, Etta and his 4 brothers, Rodney, Wayne, Craig and Lee, all of Queensland, Australia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends and mates both here and in Australia.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Ian’s life together in the Monadnock Function Room at the Hilltop Golf Course, (formerly the Monadnock Country Club) 49 High Street, Peterborough, NH 03458 on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00PM.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Ian’s memory to The ALS Association Northern New England Chapter, The Concord Center, 10 Ferry Street - Suite 438 - Concord, NH 03301.
