Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Duval, 91, of Jaffrey, died peacefully on January 14, 2023, at Monadnock Community Hospital after a period of failing health.
She was born in Antrim, NH on August 19, 1931, daughter of the late Edward and Susie (Whitney) Rokes. Jackie grew up in Antrim and graduated from Antrim High School with the class of 1950. Jackie moved to Peterborough in 1952 and she worked as a nurse’s aide in the operating room at Monadnock Hospital before going to work at D.D. Bean & Sons in Jaffrey. She married Thomas Duval in 1955 and eventually moved to Jaffrey. She provided a babysitting service to several families in the community while staying home and raising her own children.
Jackie was an active member of this community. She worked as a crossing guard for the Jaffrey Police Department for more than 10 years, and loved helping ‘her’ kids. Jackie enjoyed knitting and working on beaded calendars. She had a true zest for life. She loved people and cats, and to travel anywhere, at any time. She went on many trips with the Jaffrey Recreation Department and made many friends along the way.
Jackie is survived by her children, David A. Duval of Rindge, NH, Edward T. Duval of South Carolina, Kevin L. Duval of Claremont, NH, and Clarissa M. (Carl) Johnson of Jaffrey. She also leaves behind her 9 grandchildren, including Ben, Andrew, and Caitlin and her beloved great-granddaughter, Brooklynn. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Rokes of Keene, her two sisters, Nina Harding of Antrim and Helen Page of Grey, Maine.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time.
Private services and burial will be in the Spring at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the Monadnock Humane Society in Swanzey, NH.
