Jacqueline L. Sullivan of Peterborough, NH died peacefully at her home on July 7, 2008 of metastatic breast cancer.
Born November 27, 1949 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Rosamond Sullivan of Jaffrey, NH. Her primary education was in Jaffrey schools. She was a 1971 graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service; she earned an M.A.T. from American University, and, in 1982, a Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Jackie began her professional life as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill facilitating communication between Congressional Representatives and their constituents. Her abiding love of the democratic process and equal justice led her to pursue a law degree. She served as Assistant County Attorney in Keene, NH briefly during the 1980s. She later held positions in Washington, D.C. at the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U. S. Mint, and as legal counselor in the Office of the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Transportation. She retired in 2004.
She resided in Arlington, VA for over 30 years. She was a member of both the District of Columbia Bar Association and the New Hampshire Bar Association for many years.
Her family includes two beloved daughters, Kristine and Cynthia Sullivan of Peterborough, a long-time friend Patrick Cassady of Arlington, VA; two sisters, Clare Sullivan of Lyndonville, VT; Rosamond Roy and her husband, Richard Roy, of Burke, VA; and her loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
The family has requested that donations in memory of Jackie be made to Harvest Christian Fellowship, Post Office Box 130, Jaffrey, NH 03452, in appreciation for the help and support they provided through the most difficult times.
Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey.
Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held immediately following calling hours at St. Peter's Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough on Thursday July 10, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Gerald R. Belanger, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
