Janice L. Morrison, 85, formerly of Jaffrey, NH died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Banner Gardens in Mesa, Arizona after a period of failing health. She was born on March 6, 1927 in Hyde Park, Vermont. Janice was the daughter of the late Herbert and Isabelle (Boylan) Lanpher. She attended Lamoille Central Academy of Hyde Park, VT and graduated in 1945. She was a member of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion Auxiliary, as well as a past District Director and State member of the Auxiliary. She also did volunteer work at the American Red Cross as a “Gray Lady” at various hospitals. Jan was a member of Cheshire County Salon #276 of the Eight and Forty. Janice married Elliot “Bud” Morrison on November 9, 1946. Janice and her husband started out their lives together in Burlington, VT where she became a military wife and later a mother. Bud was called into service during the Korean Crisis in 1950 at which time Jan and their two boys moved to N. Hyde Park, VT to live with family. Upon his return in 1953 they moved to Mitchell AFB in Long Island, NY, then in 1958 to Plattsburgh, NY. Duty called and Bud was sent to Puerto Rico in 1960. Jan and the boys lived with Bud’s folks in Asheville, NC to finish off the school year before joining Bud in Puerto Rico for 38 months. Once again a move was in the cards and in 1963 they all moved to Lockbourne AFB in Columbus, Ohio then to Delaware Ohio. By 1970 Bud was retired from the military and they were ready to come back to New England. They lived in Princeton, MA at Wachusett Meadows Audubon Sanctuary for 13 years where Bud was Property Manager. Jan worked in Princeton at the coffee shop serving treats to all the regulars. When it was time to really retire they settled in Jaffrey, NH. Through fifteen moves and all these travels, Jan made many good friends and became a part of every community. She always had a strong sense of God, Family, and Country. She served all extremely well. Speaking of serving, she made the best Whoopie Pies and made baked beans like her mother’s which were the finest kind. She doted on her grandchildren and loved attending sporting events in which her many nephews played. When around family she was always at a table with a deck of cards and change purse. Jan loved her Red Sox, had a terrific sense of humor. She is going to be missed dearly by her husband Bud, family and friends. Jan’s final move was to Queen Creek, AZ in 2009 to live with and be lovingly cared for by her nephew William Morrison, his wife April and their daughter Haley. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Elliot “Bud” Morrison of Mesa, AZ; her 2 sons, Michael E. Morrison and his wife Karen of North Brookfield, MA and John W.
