Jean-Frances Ellston, 82, of Jaffrey, NH died peacefully on Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home while surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Ellston was born on October 30, 1935 in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Paul and Jennie (Caldwell) Pressey. She had attended Cumberland, RI grammar schools, and achieved her Bachelor’s in Education from the Rhode Island College of Education. Later, she earned her Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island.
Mrs. Ellston had been a librarian in the towns she called home. Early on, she worked in the Cumberland, RI School District, which included the grammar school and high school libraries as well. When her family moved to Maine, she became the librarian for Beal College, and most recently, after moving to Jaffrey, she was the librarian at the Jaffrey Grade School before retiring in 2008 from the Jaffrey Public Library.
Mrs. Ellston enjoyed travelling, reading, crocheting and was an avid gamer.
She was a communicant of All Saints Church in Peterborough and was active in many of the church functions before a serious accident limited her mobility almost 7 years ago.
Mrs. Ellston survived by her husband of 63 years, Clifford Ellston Jr. of Jaffrey; her 3 sons, Clifford Ellston III and his wife Susan of Sandown, NH, Paul Ellston of Jaffrey and Daniel Beldaras of Fitchburg, MA; her daughter, Teresa Lee of Providence, RI; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in All Saints Church, 51 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH 03458. Rev. Jamie Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be at the family’s convenience at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, RI.
