Joan Anne Mahoney

Joan Anne Mahoney, 72, resident of Jaffrey, NH died surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 19, in the Good Shepard Nursing Home.

Joan was born on December 5, 1942 in Queens, NY a daughter of the late Frank and Lillian (Trudell) Machonis.

Joan grew up most of her young adult life in the Fitchburg, MA area and graduated from Fitchburg High School. Later in her life she would travel throughout the greater New England area, living in MA, CT and finally settling in the Monadnock region, living in New Ipswich and finally here in Jaffrey.

Joan married Edgar Mahoney on September 1st 1962.

Joan worked for many years in the manufacturing field and had an incredible work ethic. She would wrap tape around her fingers and hands so that she could keep working, she was always a woman who would rather work than be home doing nothing. Joan retired from Medefab here Jaffrey and only did so because she couldn’t physically do the job any longer from her illness.
She loved to read, a true book worm. Joan also loved to bird watch; play cards, enjoy a game of cribbage and spend time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.

Joan was pre deceased by her loving husband Edgar who died in 2004.

Joan is survived by her three sons; Scott and his wife Robyn Mahoney of Jaffrey, William Mahoney of New Ipswich, Mark and his wife Cherie Mahoney of New Ipswich, one daughter; Sharron Mahoney of New Ipswich; 13 grandchildren. Her brothers; Frank Machonis of Lunenburg, MA, John Machonis of Winchendon, MA and a sister Barbara Howe of Templeton, MA.

SERVICES: Family and friends are warmly welcomed to memorial visiting hours in the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH on Saturday April 25, 2015 from 1:00pm – 3:00 pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that donations be made in Joan’s honor to NH Audubon Society, McLane Center, 84 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301.
