Joan S. Maguire

NEW IPSWICH: Joan S. Maguire, 77, of New Ipswich died September 11, 2015 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born on January 28, 1938 in Westerly, RI, a daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys Francis.

Joan lived much of her life in Stratford, CT, then married Walter Maguire in August of 1987 and practiced family counseling in the states of Wisconsin and New York. Joan then retired and opened a small market in Surry, Michigan with her husband.

Joan enjoyed sailing, fishing, reading and cooking.

She's survived by her brother, Peter Francis of Brattleboro, VT; her son, Dr Mark Cullen of Reno, NV; her daughter, Janece Shultz of New Ipswich, NH; her son, Scott Cullen of Matinsburg, WV, and her grandchildren, Shane, Trevor, Beau and Bella Cullen, Sarah Mullins, Ashley and Emily Shultz, and Brittany, Brandon and Scott Cullen, Jr, and a great grandson, Damian Mullins.

Joan was widowed in 2006 and moved to New Ipswich, NH to be near her family.

At Joan’s request, there will be no formal services or visiting hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
