John ‘Jack’ Lennon, 88, of Jaffrey, NH, died on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center after a brief period of failing health.
Jack was born on October 11, 1926 in Lexington, MA, son of the late Edward and Grace (Johnson) Lennon. He attended schools in Lexington and then served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for four years in Germany in a tank division.
After the service, Jack met and married Catherine Finn and together they settled in Pepperell, MA before moving to Jaffrey. They had been married for over 50 years when she died in 2009.
Jack had worked as a Machinist at Raytheon for over 35 years, retiring in 1988.
Jack enjoyed doing anything that included his family, especially anything with good times, good food, and good drink – everything BUT pea soup! He was a good man who taught his family the value of hard work, responsibility, family and friends. He was truly loved by all.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Pam Levasseur of New Ipswich, NH, Kim Lomax of Townsend, MA; his 4 sons, John Lennon and his wife Linda of Exeter, NH, Larry Lennon of Rindge, NH, Kevin Lennon and his wife Tracy of Jaffrey, NH and Steve Lennon of Jaffrey; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At Jack’s request, there will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of his family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Jack’s name to the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center Activities Fund, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
