John Harold Smith, 79, of Jaffrey, passed away peacefully at Jaffrey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Friday January 24, 2025 after a period of declining health.
He was born September 29, 1945 in Jaffrey. He was a son of the late Charles Henry and Nancy (Fish) Smith. He attended schools in Peterborough and has been a lifelong resident of Jaffrey. John also served in the United Stated Army Guard for 9 years.
Upon returning to Jaffrey, John and his former wife Weltha Barker raised a family and owned and operated B&B Groceries. John also was an accomplished plumber and worked for 20 years for Seppala and Aho.
He was a lifelong member of the United Church of Jaffrey. He was a member of the Masonic Charity, Lodge 18 of Jaffrey, as well as a Shriner.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Michael Smith in 1992. His siblings Henry Smith, Gertrude Pierce, Evely Collins, Charlie Smith and Norma Holden.
John is survived by his sons, Theodore Smith, Timothy Smith both of Idaho and Jacob Smith of Jaffrey. His partner Janice Pritchard of Jaffrey, The apples of his eyes, his 2 granddaughters of Jaffrey and their mom Jessica. His siblings Donald “Jimmy” Smith of Florida and Flora McLain of Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes there will be no formal services, however you are invited to share memories at his son Jacob’s home at 5 Brendon Lane Jaffrey, NH. Jacob asks that you call ahead of time (864) 508-6633.
