Joseph 'Jose' P. Diab

Joseph ‘Jose’ P. Diab, 81, of Jaffrey, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH after a long illness.

Jose was born in Boston, MA on May 15, 1942, son of the late Serge and Elizabeth (Banks) Diab.  He attended schools in Boston and later enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served from 1960 to 1966 on board the USS McDonough.

After his honorable discharge, Jose began working in the automotive field, which was where he met his future wife, Veronika Huber.  They married in 1968, and together they moved to Jaffrey where they built the home they have lived in ever since.

Jose worked as a police officer in Jaffrey from 1971 to 1982.  During that time, he and Veronika had also purchased the Former Boutwell Garage. In 1981, they opened the convenience store there.  Jose retired in 2017 and since then has enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. 

Jose is survived by his wife of 55 years, Veronika, of Jaffrey; his daughter, Monika, and her partner, Steve Arenburg; his daughter, Eden and her partner Josh McCasland, his son, Jeffrey, and his partner, Kendra Bornstein, and by his one beloved granddaughter, Hannah Schlim, his sisters, Teresa (McCall) Cook and her husband Robert, Lorna (McCall) Rabbitt and her husband Michael, his brother Bruce McCall and his wife Gertrude, as well as by his large extended family and many close friends.

At Jose’s request there will be no calling hours or formal funeral service.

All are invited to a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.
