Joyce Lee (Croumie) Bryant, 70, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009, at her home. She was born on August 13, 1938 in Brattleboro, Vermont, daughter of Richard E. and Louise C. (Whipple) Croumie, and had been a resident of Sebring since July, 2006 coming from Jaffrey, New Hampshire. She was a graduate of Thayer High School Class of 1956 in Winchester, NH and Keene State College Class of 1960.
Mrs. Bryant was a teacher at South Meadow School in Peterborough, NH for 30 years, retiring in 1997 after teaching seventh grade Language Arts. At one time she was involved with the Drama Club and as Coach of the Cheerleading Team. She was a volunteer for many years as a Mini Camp Counselor at Camp Takodah in Richmond, NH and volunteered as group leader, then Bus Coordinator for New England Heritage Tours for 28 years and American Heritage Tours for 30 years. She was a member of Con-Val Education Association NEA of New Hampshire; National Education Association; New Hampshire Association Teachers of English; New England Association Teachers of English; National Council Teachers of English; Incorporator Cheshire County YMCA; former member of St. Patricks School Board and a Past President of Jaffrey Community League. She was attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL and was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Jaffrey, NH.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by her Husband, Robert S. Bryant, who she married July 15, 1961; Daughters, Donna L. Booth and Husband Mark, of Jaffrey, NH and Diane B. Rouse and Husband Ed, of Sebring, FL; Grandchildren, Robert Webber of Rocky Mount, NC; Christopher Rouse of Sebring, FL; Amanda Rouse, USAF stationed in Iraq; Samantha Hautanen and Joseph Hautanen, both of Jaffrey, NH; two Step-Grandchildren, Samantha Booth and Cody Booth, both of Barrington, NH; three Great-Granddaughters of Rocky Mount, NC; Brothers, Gerry Croumie of Indiana and Richard Croumie, Jr. of Peterborough, NH and Sister, Rita Merrifield of Keene, NH. She was preceded in death by her Parents and Sister, Judith Reynolds and Brothers, Charles Croumie and Michael Croumie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Meadow School for library books and/or Language Arts materials to be used in the seventh and eighth grades, c/o Marsha Whitney, Rte. 202 South, Peterborough, NH 03458, or to the Cheshire County YMCA, P.O. Box 647, Keene, NH 03431, for Camp Takodah.
Burial will be in the family lot at Conant Cemetery in Jaffrey.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey, New Hampshire later in the spring and the date will be announced by the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center of Jaffrey.
