Lea M. Carpenter

Lea M. Carpenter, 56, of Jaffrey, NH, died peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a lengthy illness.

Lea was born on March 23, 1961 in Lowell, MA, daughter of the late Richard B. McNear, and Sally (Fairbrother) McNear. She attended Saint Patrick School in Jaffrey, and graduated from Conant High School in 1979. Lea had attended several classes at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, and had lived in the Monadnock Region her entire life. Most recently, Lea had been working as a security officer at Keene State College in Keene.

Lea was an animal lover and frequently volunteered at the Monadnock Humane Society. She was also a dedicated blood donor and had donated several gallons throughout her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Lea was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents whom she adored, Ephrem and Lea Bernard, and her father, Richard McNear died in 2001.

Lea is survived by her mother, Sally McNear of Keene; her step-mother, Sonjia McNear of Jaffrey; her 2 sons, Daniel and Cole Carpenter, both of Keene; her yellow lab Beamer, and by many close friends.

At Lea’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1:00pm in Saint Patrick Cemetery on Hillcrest Road in Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor of Saint Patrick Parish will be the celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Lea’s name to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W. Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446, or to the local American Red Cross, either with a blood or financial donation, at 83 Court Street, Keene, NH 03431.
