Leopauldo P. Turini

April 12, 1921 — November 11, 2015

Leopauldo P. Turini, 94, a longtime resident of Temple, NH, died peacefully on November 11, 2015 at the Monadnock Community Hospital.

He was born on April 12, 1921 in Clinton, MA, son of the late Elio and Dominica (Cataldi) Turini. Raised and educated in Clinton, Leo graduated from Clinton High School in 1939.

After graduation Leo entered the United States Air Force and faithfully served his country in WWII, the Korean Conflict, Belgian Congo, Berlin Airlift, as well as in times of peace. One of his proudest moments was receiving the great privilege of being selected as an Honor Flight participant, and traveling with Veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit war memorials.

After his faithful career service to the nation, Leo was Honorably Discharged and worked for many years in research and development at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough, NH.
Leo took great pride in community service as well. He was a member of the Lions Club, Temple Volunteer Fire Department, Temple Historical Society, and the On The Lighter Side cigarette lighter collector club. He often spoke of how he had to chauffeur and take care of of the ‘elderly’, even when he was 10-20 years older than those in his care.

He was a brilliant fixer, an expert tinkerer, and never met a watch or a clock that he could not fix. But his greatest passion in life was his travel companion, Dorothy, their children, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he adored so much.

In addition to his loving wife, Dorothy, survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Betty Turini of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Nick Mize of Moorpark, CA; six grandchildren and their families including, Anthony Mize and his wife Brennan of Simi Valley, CA; Amelia Quin and her wife Jen Hardy of Seminole, FL; Lisa Turini and her husband John Duff of St. Petersburg, FL; Kelcy Coleman and her husband James of St. Petersburg, FL; Todd Turini of Phoenix, AZ; Hannah Mize and her significant other Jeff Cadwell of Moorpark, CA; and Great-Grandchildren, Willow Mize, Devlon Parker, Kylaeha Parker, Shea Mize, Kaleb Duff and Hazel Mize.

Services: There will be no calling hours. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Miller Cemetery, Temple, NH at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in memory of Leo to a charity of one’s choice.
