Jaffrey, New Hampshire
Lionel Rolland Chip Bergeron Sr., 65, of Emery Road in Jaffrey, was surrounded by his family when he died on Saturday February 12, 2011 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a prolonged illness.
Chip was born on April 3, 1945 in Peterborough, NH, son of the late Joseph Henry and Roseanna (Desrosiers) Bergeron. He was raised in Greenville and was a 1963 graduate of Appleton Academy. He attended classes off and on at UNH and had served in the National Guard.
Chip married Sheila on December 31, 1966 and moved to Wilton. They would move to their current house in Jaffrey in 1969. He retired from New Hampshire Ball Bearing in 1987 after 20-plus years to run Telstar Fireworks and D C Speeney Sons in Jaffrey. Chip enjoyed community service, he had served on the Greenville Fire Department and was a longtime member and former President of the Jaffrey Lions club.
Chips highest priority was family. He enjoyed hunting with his children, camping with his family at Keyser Pond in Henniker, deep sea fishing and any thing that involved being surrounded by family and friends with Law and Order on the TV. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Chip joins his parents, his son Jacob, and his sister Gloria in eternal happiness.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheila (Speeney) Bergeron of Jaffrey; his children, Chris, Andy, Kelly, Matt, Teddy, Elizabeth, Jessica, Tony, Alex, Lori and their spouses, His grandchildren, Kerrigan, Nicholas, Kristen, Andrew, Garrett, Mallory, Seamus, Shawn, Christopher, Madelyn, Zach, Dustin, Joseph, Aubrie, Griffin, Kiaja, Justin, Haley, Jayzyin and his brother Henry (Butch) Bergeron of Greenville;, Many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chips name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Pine Tree Place, 360 Route 101, Suite 1001, Bedford, NH 03110
Spring burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours which will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 south), Jaffrey.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2011 at 11:00AM in the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Teri Motley, Pastor will officiate.
