Louise F. Beam, 78, of Jaffrey, NH, formerly of Cambridge, MA, died Friday September 26, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center in Jaffrey after a period of failing health.


Mrs. Beam was born in Cambridge, MA on March 1, 1931, daughter of the late Edward and Edna (Peel) Primmer. She was a 1949 graduate of Cambridge High Latin School and had lived in Cambridge until moving to Jaffrey after marrying her husband Ernest Sam Beam in 1973.


While in Cambridge, Mrs. Beam had worked at Grenada Wines in Cambridge for many years. After moving, she worked at Brookstone in Peterborough for over 22 years.


Mrs. Beam belonged to the United Church in Jaffrey where she was very active and served in several capacities; her favorite activities were with the Triple D, the Friendly Guild, and the Food Pantry. She had also enjoyed teaching Sunday school for over 34 years in Arlington, MA. Mrs. Beam spent her free time reading, crocheting and sewing needlepoint, and was very generous with what she made.


Mrs. Beams husband preceded her in death in 1987. She was also predeceased by her brother Edward James Primmer on August 6, 2008.


She is survived by many close friends, especially the Carland family, who cared for her and was with her when she died. She is also survived by a granddaughter Caroline Morris of East Bay, Maine; her sister-in-law Pauline May Primmer of Simsbury, CT and her nephews Richard A. Primmer of Marlborough, MA and Robert E. Primmer of Simsbury, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Beams name to the Jaffrey Food Pantry or the Jaffrey Shelter, both in care of the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452

Burial will take place at the Westminster (VT) Cemetery at a later date.

At her request, there will be no calling hours.

All of her friends and family are warmly invited to a Celebration of her Life which will be held in the Parish Hall at the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
