LUCIEN J. LIZOTTE, 55, of Pine Meadow Circle, in Bennington died Monday October 20, 2008 at his residence following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 27, 1953 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada son of Ned and Germaine (Bosse) Lizotte. He was a 1971 graduate of Madawaska (ME) High School where he was a member of the cross- country team as well as the track and field team. During high school years he worked with his father as a painting contractor.
He was formerly employed with the Madawaska Recreation Department where he coached youth hockey and baseball.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as snowmobiling with family and friends.
Lucien has been a resident of Bennington for the past 23 years, having previously lived in Nashua for ten years
He worked as a fabricator for New England Steel in Milford for 17 years; then for East Coast Steel in Greenfield for 5 years and was presently employed with American Steel Fabricators of Greenfield for the past 15 years.
Lucien was a member of the Bennington Budget Committee for the past ten years. He coached Peewee Hockey at New England College. He was part of the Monday night mens bowling league in Peterborough as well as the Tuesday night Golfing League at the Monadnock Country Club in Peterborough.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church of the Devine Mercy Parish in Bennington.
In addition to his mother of Madawaska ME he is survived by his wife of 33 years Mae (Raymond) Lizotte of Bennington; his daughter Heather M. Lizotte also of Bennington; three brothers Jacques R. Lizotte and his wife Jocelyn of Madawaska, ME, Yves J. Lizotte and wife Sandra also of Madawaska ME, and Guy N. Lizotte and wife Tammy of Van Buren, ME; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at HCS, Post Office Box 496, Peterborough NH 03458.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) in Jaffrey.
A Memorial service will be held following visitation at 8:00PM. Rev. Gerald Belanger of Devine Mercy Parish will officiate.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated later in St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska ME.
