Lucille M. Baird, 93, of Naples, FL and formerly of Jaffrey, NH, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Solaris Imperial Healthcare in Naples after a period of failing health.
Mrs. Baird was born in Richville, NY on April 28, 1924, the youngest daughter of Ogden W. and Leona (Maxson) Rickter. She attended Richville, NY schools and married the love of her life on May 18, 1946. Together, they raised a daughter and 2 sons.
Mrs. Baird was a masterful cook and had a special recipe for spaghetti sauce known only to her children which remains a well-guarded secret to this day. She also enjoyed activities such as knitting, quilting, crocheting and gardening. She loved spending restful summers on Morse Island in Maine.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Naples while she has lived in Florida. Previously, she had belonged to the United Church of Jaffrey and was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary at the John Humiston Post #11 in Jaffrey.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Baird was predeceased by her brother Harlan and her sister Viola.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, James Baird of Naples; her daughter, Judith Laing of Naples, her son Gary and his wife Barbara Baird of Naples and Friendship, ME, and her son Michael and his wife Sandra Baird of Mustang, OK; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family and announced at a later date.
