Lugretta D. Aho, 83, of Fitzwilliam, NH, died peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough after a period of failing health.
She was born in Richmond, Virginia on July 14, 1934, daughter of the late Edward and Cora (Fisher) Johnson and was one of eighteen children. Lugretta had lived in San Francisco, CA for several years before moving east, where she had lived in several communities around the Monadnock region before settling in Fitzwilliam for the past 32 years.
Early on, Lugretta enjoyed waitressing before becoming a manager for the Sears & Roebuck Company for many years. She was a hard worker who found tremendous pride in caring for several of her elderly neighbors and friends in their own homes. She loved her flower gardens and vegetable gardens, and was an excellent cook who rarely used a cookbook or recipe but created her own tasty dishes which delighted and amazed everyone.
Lugretta will be missed by her loving husband of 48 years, Steven L. Aho, whom she married on June 1, 1960 in Carson City, Nevada. She is also survived by her son David E. Robinson of Glen Burnie, MD; her 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Geraldine Spurlock and Lillian Myrick, both of Richmond, VA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
At Lugretta’s request, there will be no formal services or calling hours at this time. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested memorial contributions be made in Lugretta’s name to Compassus Hospice, 170 South River Road, Bldg. 2, Bedford, NH 03110, or to the local charity of your choice.
