Mabel L. Speckman

Mabel L. Speckman, 77, of Rindge, NH died peacefully, Monday December 17, 2012, at her home in the loving care of her son and family. Mabel was born in Peterborough, NH on February 9, 1935, daughter of the late Lloyd and Helen (Eaton) Fernald. She was a 1953 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and had lived in Rindge since 1961. She had previously lived in Jaffrey and in Arlington, VA. Mabel had worked for Dr. Francis Wozmak in Jaffrey and for several Neurosurgeons in Washington DC before moving to Rindge and working for the Town of Rindge as the administrative assistant and secretary to the selectmen for over 14 years. More recently, Mabel had been a Pharmacy Technician at Hannaford’s in Rindge and retired in 2002. Mabel was active in the community and belonged to the Rindge Woman’s Club. She also enjoyed reading and baking, and will always be remembered for having the best pies in Rindge. She was married to Donald E. Speckman who died in 1992. Mabel is survived by her son Kevin Speckman of Rindge, NH; her 3 grandchildren, Steven Voyer of Westminster, MA, Jason Gauthier of Winchendon, MA, and Rebecca Gauthier of Ashburnham, MA; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mabel’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) in Jaffrey on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge.
