Marcel G. Bernier

March 21, 1926 — January 2, 2010

Greenville, NHMarcel G. Bernier, 83, of High Street in Greenville, NH died Saturday January 2, 2010 at Harborside Healthcare Pheasantwood in Peterborough, surrounded by his loving family, after a long period of failing health.
He was born in Greenville, NH on March 21, 1926, son of the late Ernest and Rosanna (Deschenes) Bernier. Mr. Bernier had attended school in Greenville and was proud to be a lifelong resident of the town.
Mr. Bernier was not able to serve in the armed services due to an injury to his hand he had received when he was young. Instead, he applied himself to his work and will be remembered for being one of the hardest working people anyone ever knew. He had worked at the Greenville Mills when he was very young, and then at Southwest Transportation in Wilton where he worked in the warehouse and learned how to drive tractor-trailers. He then worked for LAW Motor Transportation in Nashua for over 40 years and retired in 1986. Mr. Bernier was a man who would always do things himself instead of asking for help, and would always be there for his family, friends and neighbors with a helping hand.
Mr. Bernier was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Greenville. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, cribbage and puzzle building. He could always be found spending time with his family, tooling around his property on his riding lawn mower, or helping his neighbors.
Mr. Bernier was preceded in death by his wife, Lauretta (Blanchette) Bernier in 1995, his son George G. Bernier in 1952, and by 11 of his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Bernier of Jaffrey, NH and Ann Caswell of Wilton, NH; his son Marcel Spike Bernier of Greenville, NH; his four grandchildren, Jeremiah Caswell and his wife Miriam of Apex, North Carolina, Devin Caswell of Honolulu, Hawaii, Matthew Blood, and his significant other Donna Deaton of Jaffrey, NH and Monya Mooney of Keene, NH; his two great-grandchildren, Joseph Blood of Jaffrey, NH and Haley Mooney of Keene, NH; his two sisters, Blanch Bowles of Washington (State) and Theresa Massie of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
