Marcel L. Champagne, 86, longtime New Ipswich resident died on Saturday, June 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving daughters at the Pheasant Wood Center in Peterborough after a period of declining health.
He was born on September 9, 1929 in Pembroke, NH a son of the late Camile and Loretta (Graves) Champagne.
Marcel was raised and educated in the Suncook area and joined the United States Army in July of 1951. He faithfully served his country and was Honorably discharged in April of 1953.
After his military service Marcel moved to New Ipswich, NH, while living in New Ipswich he worked for over 59 years at Warwick Mills in Greenville, NH as a Mechanic.
Marcel has many joys in his life; these included such things as his garden, his grandchildren and his family. He also enjoyed his American Legion Post 13 in Greenville, a place he went daily to meet with friends and fellow Veterans. He will be greatly missed by his friends from Post 13.
In addition to his parents, Marcel is predeceased by two Son-in-laws, Ray LaFlesh and Timmy Corthell, six brothers, Rene, Reginald, Velmore, Jean, Denis and Philip.
Survivors include, Three daughters; Tina LaFlesh of New Ipswich, Lucy Corthell of New Ipswich, Michelle and Dennis Watkins, Valerie and Mark Honey both of Florida, A son, Joseph and Hoan Champagne of Milford, NH, A brother, Paul and Carole Champagne both of Pembroke, NH, 7 sisters, Annette Cranston of Greenville, NH, Julie Champagne of Suncook, NH, Theresa Schneider of Wallingford Conn., Jackie Gelnes of Boscawen NH, Marguerite Champagne of Hemet CA, Muriel Tracy of Auburn NH, Marie and John Cusson of Pembrook NH, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces nephews and cousins.
Services: In accordance with Marcel’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the New Hampshire Veterans’ Cemetery, Boscawen, NH at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Marcel can be made to St. Joseph Community Services, P.O. Box 910 Merrimack, NH 03054
