Margaret A. Lavoie, 85, of Antrim and formerly a longtime resident of Bennington, NH, died peacefully at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a brief period of failing health.
She was born in Peterborough on June 10, 1939, daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Adams) Powers. She was a graduate of the former Peterborough High School and had married Paul A. Lavoie, Sr. shortly after graduation. Together they raised their family in Bennington.
Margaret was a devoted mother to her boys, and felt life kept getting better with the addition of grandchildren to her family. Outside of her home, she had worked at Torrey Pines and at Con-Val High School through the years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Paul on December 12, 2005.
She is survived by her three sons, Paul A. Lavoie Jr. of Hancock, Robert T. Lavoie of Antrim and Zachary E. Lavoie of Greenfield; her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Alice Geoffrey of Peterborough, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to Calling Hours which will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (US Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.
She will be buried with her husband on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the Good Neighbor Fund, PO Box 486, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
