Margaret 'Peg' McConnell

Margaret ‘Peg’ McConnell, 77, of Peterborough died peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home while surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 19, 1939 in Peterborough, NH, daughter of the late Raymond and Marion (Gilman) Wheeler. Peg was a 1957 graduate of the former Peterborough High School and was a lifelong resident of the town.

Peg had worked as the head teller at the First National Bank before beginning her own business, Peg’s Aerobic Fitness and Diet Center. She was an avid photographer and enjoyed working at the Peterborough Camera Shop for many years. She loved watching local wildlife and capturing it in pictures. Peg also enjoyed gardening and had enjoyed her best crops ever just last year. She liked the outdoors and was always proud of harvesting her own cordwood for heating each year. Peg was also very talented with cooking and crafts, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Peg’s brother, Roger Wheeler preceded her in death in 1985.

She is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband Vic Wheeler of Peterborough; her brother Todd Wheeler of Bennington; her sister Patricia and her husband Dan Hill of Dublin; her step-brother Skip Lane and step-sister Bobbi Grant, both of Jaffrey; her grandchildren, Jacob Wheeler, Megan Yerardi, Trisha VanHorn, Teresa VanHorn, Joshua Sparling, Effin Chalke and Jennifer Sparling; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey.

A funeral service will be held immediately afterwards at 2:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by the Reverend Daniel Osgood of the Greenfield Covenant Church. Burial in the spring will be in the East Cemetery in Temple, NH.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Peg’s name to the Good Neighbor Fund, PO Box 486, Jaffrey, NH 03452
