Margaret ‘Peggy’ Sherman, 93, of Jaffrey died peacefully at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center after a period of failing health.
Peggy was born on September 24, 1920 in Jaffrey, NH, daughter of the late George and Rosa (Gobiel) Blair. She was proud to have been born on School Street and to have attended schools in Jaffrey.
Peggy had worked at W.W. Cross and D.D. Bean & Sons in Jaffrey for many years. She had been a long time resident of Jaffrey and in Peterborough, and had also lived in Zephyr Hills, FL and in Lansing, MI before returning to Jaffrey.
Peggy enjoyed life and loved crocheting simple gifts for family and friends. She had been a member and past president of the Jaffrey VFW Memorial Post #5613 Auxiliary Unit and a parishioner of Saint Patrick Parish.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her siblings; Arthur G. Blair, Robert J. Blair, Henry J. Blair, Alice Gallup, Eva Hadley and Beatrice Byam, and by her husbands, Donald Arnold, Alfred Jarvis and Donald Sherman.
Peggy did not have children of her own. She is survived by her beloved Nieces and Nephews and their families with whom she would travel with and loved to orchestrate all kinds of family activities with. They were her family and her true joys in life.
At Peggy’s request, there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 1:00pm at Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Saint Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Peggy’s memory to Hospice at HCS, P.O. Box 496, Peterborough, NH 03458
