Margery A. Wheeler, 94, of Winter Street, died peacefully Thursday December 22, 2011 at Summerhill Assisted Living, in Peterborough following a brief illness. She was born in Concord, NH on July 28, 1917 the daughter of the late Chester B. and Carrie E (Spinney) Jewell. She was raised in the Concord schools, graduating from Concord High School in 1935. She was married at her family home in Concord, NH on August 16, 1936 to Arthur E. Wheeler and they celebrated their 72nd anniversary on August 16, 2008. Her husband died on September 16, 2008. Margery had been a private secretary for the Union School District and the New Hampshire Congregational Conference office in Concord for ten years. In 1946 she moved to Peterborough to join her husband, who owned and operated the Jellison Funeral Home, and where they served the town until retirement in 1982. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the Union Congregational Church, the Women’s Fellowship, the Tuesday Night Circle, the Peterborough Historical Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had also been a Girl Scout leader for several years and enjoyed volunteering. She was a caring wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Jean Christian and husband Kenneth of Peterborough; two granddaughters, Kari Jean Christian of Peterborough, and Lori A. Bailey and husband William of Windham; two great grandchildren Ryan W. Bailey and Emma K. Bailey both of Windham NH; two Godchildren, Bruce E. Macey and Kimberly Wheeler both of Concord NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard G. Jewell and sister Thelma M. Macey of Concord.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
