Marie Rose Dolan

Marie Rose Dolan, 97, of Scott Street in Peterborough died Wednesday March 7, 2012 at the Pheasantwood Healthcare, following a period of failing health. She was born October 9, 1914 in Quebec City, PQ Canada daughter of the late Noel L. and Maria (Christian) Antel. She moved to Peterborough at the age of nine months, where she lived with her father and grandparents in one of the mill houses which are now located between the historical building and the Town Hall She attended the local Central School and the former Peterborough High School. On June 21, 1935 she married Richard H Dolan, Sr., he died in 1971. After her husband’s death she did some volunteer work at the Monadnock Community Hospital. Rose loved to crotchet and gave many Afghans to family and friends. She enjoyed going to yard and rummage sales, and Christmas Fairs. She also loved to read until her eyesight failed. She loved her many pets, dogs and cats, which she had over the years. Rose was a stay at home Mom until her children started school. She then had worked for Varney Mills, The Basket Shop, The Tavern, Boytons Market (Roys) and at the New Hampshire Ball Bearing Company for 23 years, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church of the Divine Mercy Parish. Survivors include her daughter Rachael Belville and her husband Ted of Peterborough; her son Richard H. Dolan Jr. and his wife Paula of Peabody, MA; a step daughter Margaret Baer of Newport RI; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a cousin; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers and a sister, all from Canada.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours.

Graveside Committal Services will be held Saturday March 24, 2012 at 2:00PM in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Peterborough.
