Marie T. Hunt, 81, of Jaffrey died Friday October 16, 2009 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Hunt was born on October 19, 1927 in Peterborough, New Hampshire, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Smith) Lafreniere. She was a graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and a lifelong resident of this community.

Mrs. Hunt is perhaps most fondly remembered from her many years at the Candy Shop at Silver Ranch, which later became Addisons. However her family was her number one priority and she was always there with her loving care. She was great at solving crossword puzzles and took great pride in helping her great grandchildren improve their reading skills.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Hunt on November 27, 2005

Mrs. Hunt is survived by her daughter Dawn and husband Gary Fey of Jaffrey; her 2 granddaughters, Beth Woods and fianc Jason, and Christina and husband Addel Moffett; her 4 great-grandchildren; her brother John A. Lafreniere, Sr. of Jaffrey and her sister Caroline Kolapakka of Troy, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Hunts name may be sent to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, PO Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM at the family lot in Conant Cemetery on Stratton Road in Jaffrey. Rev. David Forry of Jaffrey will officiate.
