Marie-Therese Cornellier, 87, of Castle Street, Keene, NH died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Genesis Healthcare Keene Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Lowell, MA, on March 13, 1927, daughter of Maxime and Regina (Frappier) Cornellier. She was raised in Lowell and attended a bi-lingual school through the eighth grade. She was a graduate of the Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsborough, MA. Upon graduation she pursued her college education at Regis College in Weston, MA. She obtained her BA from there in 1949 and taught French for a spell at Keith Hall in Lowell, MA. She also furthered her education, obtaining a Master's Degree from Rivier College in Nashua, NH. She subsequently taught French and Spanish at Rivier College. Several years later, she moved to Manassas Virginia and was hired by the Federal Government to oversee Social Study grants throughout the United States. This gave her the opportunity to travel throughout the country. Ever anxious to improve herself and her status she obtained a Real Estate Broker’s license in the state of Virginia where she was still residing and was successful in this field until her retirement in 1992. Upon retirement she returned to the New England area and resided for numerous years in Jaffrey, NH. In 2009 she relocated to Keene where she was active in various volunteer projects especially those involved with her church. In her leisure moments throughout her life she enjoyed knitting and counted cross stitch at which she was quite adept. She also enjoyed playing the piano and reading
She is survived by her brother John G. Cornellier. Her parents and younger brother died earlier.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church, 185 Main Street, Keene. The Rev. Steven M. Kucharski, associate pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will take place at the family plot in Lowell, Massachusetts at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Catholic Faith Formation Center, 161 Main Street, Keene, NH 03431, or to “Shelter from the Storm”, PO Box 257, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
