Marion B. Whitney

Marion B. Whitney, 85, of Jaffrey Road, Rindge died Wednesday January 3, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Jaffrey following a period of failing health.

She was born November 11, 1921 in Boston, daughter of the late George R. and Ruth (Tenney) Burgoyne. Mrs. Whitney was a 1940 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and has been a resident of Rindge since 1947.

For many years she was employed at the Winchendon (MA) Fashion Shop and later for Ames Department Store in Peterborough until her retirement in 1989.

Mrs. Whitney was an avid reader.

She was the married to Carl C. Whitney who died April 7, 1984.

Survivors include her son Carl C. Whitney, Jr. and his wife Carol of Pepperell, MA; a grandson Erich Whitney and his wife Holly of Derry NH; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Her daughter Marjorie Whitney predeceased her November 3, 2005.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey.
Calling hours are prior to the funeral and will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Hillside Cemetery, Goddard Road in Rindge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at the Good Shepherd Health Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey NH 03452.
