Marleen A. Benoit, 71, of Jaffrey, NH passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in her home after a hard battle with cancer, she was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 20th 1953, in Lawrence, MA. She was the daughter of the late Leo and Barbara Root.
Marleen was raised in Windham, NH, and graduated from Salem High School in 1969. She worked at Campers Inn of Nashua as a cleaner for a few years until they moved to Merrimack, NH. She also worked at Dollar General in New Ipswich, NH, until she was diagnosed with cancer, making many friends along the way.
When she wasn’t working she was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which brought her much joy. She had a love for her older TV shows, such as Walker Texas Ranger, Touched by an Angel, and Highway to Heaven. She also enjoyed going to Maine every April for what she called her ‘Woman’s Retreat,’ which became a tradition after her late sister “Bunny” passed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Daniel Benoit, her two sisters, Barbara “Bunny” Martin and Deborah Gagne, and a nephew, Timothy Mancini.
Marleen is survived by her children, Aaron Deshaies and his fiancée Kim of Winchester, NH, Jennifer Deshaies of Concord, NH, Sara Wilson of Greenville, NH, Sherri Lamb of Jaffrey, NH. Her grandchildren, Felicity Burgees, Corey Deshaies, Ashley Benoit, Tyler Benoit, Matthew and Dylan Wilson, Caleb Beausoleil, Braelynn Lamb, and Logan Beausoleil, and her great-grandchild, Carter Damon. Her three brothers, Leo Root and his wife Ilse of Las Vegas, NV, Paul Root and his wife Barbara of Clarksville TN, Dennis Root and his wife Janice of Windham, NH, and a sister-in-law, Jane LeClerc and her husband Roger of Londonderry, NH.
Calling hours are Friday, May 3, 2024, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. All are welcome.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 11th 2024 at her home in Jaffrey NH, more information to follow.
A burial for all family and friends will take place in Windham NH, at a later date.
