MARY EDITH (CORKUM) CORMACK, 83, of Peterborough died peacefully in Harborside Healthcare Center in Peterborough, Monday October 22, 2007. Born in Fitchburg, daughter of the late Aubrey D. and Ann (Clark) Corkum; Mary Edith grew up in Springfield, MA. and graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield. Throughout her business career she was employed as Administrator Assistant with several large brokerage firms. She served the Town of Peterborough as a Trustee of the Cemetery Commission for 18 years. As a communicant of Saint Peter Church, she was a lector and former member of the Womens Guild. An ardent, talented floral gardener, she was president of the Peterborough Garden Club, and was the recipient of several award ribbons for her floral arrangement exhibits at local and state Flower Shows. She had a particular interest in Japanese flower arranging, perfecting her skill while a member of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society. Her nimble fingers knitted handsome sweaters for loved ones. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to interesting places, but especially vacationing in Vero Beach,FL. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty six years Robert H. Cormack; her sister Nancy Friis-Hansen and her husband Poul of Westborough, MA.; sisters-in-law Joan Cormack of Vero Beach, FL, Jackie Corkum of Somers CT; a niece Kathleen Corkum of East Hartford CT; a nephew Christopher Corkum and grand nephew, Kevin Corkum of Broad Brook CT. Her brother Jim Corkum predeceased her.
