Peterborough, NH
Mary Loftis Bush, 64, of Peterborough died December 15, 2008 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center of metastatic breast cancer. Born September 14, 1944 in Flushing, New York, she was the daughter of deceased James and Margaret Loftis. She graduated from Queens College in 1966 and immediately worked as a programmer for IBM in Poughkeepsie, and subsequently programmed insurance systems for Liberty Mutual in Boston. She married in 1967 and raised four children, living in Huntington, Long Island; Euless, Texas; Rochester, New York; and Peterborough. During the nurturing years in Texas, she worked to pass a municipal bond to raise funds for the school district and served as PTA president. She also acquired and maintained a tutoring business. In recent years she was a special educator at Peterboroughs South Meadow Middle School in the ConVal School District. Marys teaching passion was mathematics. She was an avid reader, Dallas Cowboy sports fan and proud grandmother.
Her joy was her family. Mary was beloved wife and best friend to her husband of 41 years, David Bush; nurturing mom to three sons and a daughter David Murton (Keller, Texas), Catherine Margaret Rehnquist (Coventry, Rhode Island), Daniel John (San Francisco, California), and Kevin Beckwith (Austin, Texas); playful grandma to one grandson and two granddaughters David Dmitri Bush, Mary Margaret Rehnquist and Elizabeth Mae Weber; sister to Terry Loftis (Norwich, Connecticut) and Peggy Ambrosio (Arlington Heights, Illinois); and daughter-in-law to Murton Bush (Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania). They miss her.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make memorial contributions in Marys name to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756, or to Susan G. Komen for the Cure(r), P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
