Maurice ‘Moe’ Ross, 81, of Greenville, NH and formerly of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2015 at the Monadnock Community Hospital with his family by his side after a period of failing health.
Moe was born in Northfield, VT on September 9, 1934, son of the late Duncan and Dalphine (Ingraham) Ross. He worked with his mother at the Hudson Diner while attending school. He graduated from Hudson (MA) high school in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country honorably for 2 years aboard the USS Intrepid during the Korean Conflict.
Moe was a longtime member of the LeClair-Caron-Pelletier American Legion Post #13 in Greenville.
Moe worked throughout Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts with Suburban Propane for over 39 years and had become a specialist in all aspects of the field. He retired from Suburban to establish M.K.R. Propane Services and enjoyed operating his own business until he finally retired.
Moe enjoyed being a Little League Coach for the Hudson Boys Club and was one of the directors of the Harmonica Hobo’s there. He was an avid snowmobiler and skier and also loved to fish in his free time.
Moe was preceded in death by the love of his life, Patricia (Rose) Ross in 2010. His brother also died earlier.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Ellen Metcalf and her husband Jim of Ashburnham, MA, Pam Taylor and her fiancé Terrence Parker of Sterling, MA and Robin Ross of New Ipswich, NH; his son Daniel Ross of Auburn, MA; his step-son Dale Rose and his wife Joni of Lunenburg, MA; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sister Betty Bernier of Cape Cod and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, December 14, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey.
A Graveside Service with full military honors will be conducted on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the family lot in Pleasant Street Cemetery in Greenville.
