June 23, 1922 — January 19, 2013

Troy, NH Mitchell ‘Ernie’ Menard, 90, passed away on January 19, 2013 at Baldwinville Nursing Home in Templeton, MA after a brief illness. He was born on June 23, 1922 in Gardner, MA, son of the late Mitchell Menard and Mary Coderre. He grew up in Winooski, Vermont and had served as an MP in the U.S. Army during WWII. Ernie had been a member of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion in Jaffrey. He had retired from W.W. Cross Co. in Jaffrey after being a truck driver for many years. Ernie went on to work with Ed Stevens Auctions in Rindge and travelled throughout the area moving furniture. Ernie loved the outdoors and was an avid motorcyclist. He had travelled to Sturgis and across the country three times on his motorcycles and enjoyed camping over staying at a hotel any day. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and had belonged to the Snowbound Club in Winchendon, MA. Ernie was always very social and loved being with people. He would often cater large family gatherings and other events, including the big Sunday breakfasts with the Snowbound Club. Ernie is survived by his wife, Elsie Menard of Jaffrey, NH; his daughter Gail Piemontese of Shelbyville, TN; his son Mitchell J. Menard, Sr. of Rindge, NH; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 ½ great-great-grandchildren (his third is due in March) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his devoted friend of over 35 years, Beverly Rich of Baldwinville, MA. Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey, NH.
