Nancy J. Deiana, 82, of Jaffrey, died on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a period of failing health. She was born on April 21, 1931 in Holyoke, MA, daughter of the late Bernard and Blanche (Stebbins) Clough. Nancy was a 1948 graduate of Stoneleigh-Prospect High School in Greenfield, MA and had attended Syracuse University in New York. She had lived in several communities in Massachusetts before moving to South Carolina briefly, and then to Antrim, NH before settling in Jaffrey. Nancy had retired in 1990 from the Monadnock Community Hospital where she had worked as a cook and prep-cook for many years. Earlier, she had also worked as a cook at the Monadnock Christian Nursing Home – now the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center, where she had been being cared for most recently. Nancy enjoyed spending time at the ocean and watching hummingbirds. She liked golf, bocce, and solving crossword puzzles. Most of all, Nancy loved all animals and had a soft spot in her heart for dogs – especially her beloved ‘Cane’ who will miss her dearly. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Dana Coe of Peterborough, NH, Jill Starbird of Poland, Maine, Ellen Doughty of Peterborough, NH and Cindy-Lou Knowles of Jaffrey, NH; her sons, Harry Moss of Livermore Falls, Maine, James Moss of Lee, NH and Peter J. Deiana of Jaffrey, NH; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren and many cousins and close friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Francis ‘Pete’ Deiana on July 16, 1996, and by her son Bruce Deiana on April 7, 2011.
