Nancy A. Powers

Nancy A. (Parker) Powers, 79, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Greenville, New Hampshire. She was born on January 1, 1946, in Gardner, Massachusetts, to Merle and Geneva Parker.

Nancy graduated from high school in Athol, Massachusetts, and went on to build a diverse career. She worked at the Thom McCann Shoe Company and Union Twist Drill before becoming a waitress in Jaffrey and Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire, as well as Wickenburg, Arizona. Her work allowed her to connect with many people over the years, a reflection of her warm and welcoming nature.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nancy’s family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her children: James Powers; Kristy Powers; Robert Powers and his wife Kelly Powers; Stacy Powers and her husband Mike Coutu; as well as her extended daughter Melinda Powers. She was a proud grandmother to Kristopher Powers, Ashley Page, Carly Powers, Natasha Elms, Shaun Powers, and Dylan Powers. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren Jaimison Elms and Shaelynn Wallen. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Powers and her parents Merle and Geneva Parker.

Nancy had an adventurous spirit that led her family on an unforgettable journey in 1980 when she moved with Robert, their four children, a dog, and a cat, to Arizona in a blue school bus converted into a camper for a fresh start. This bold move exemplified her sense of adventure and determination to create new opportunities for those she loved.

She was known as the "mom of the neighborhood," always welcoming children into her home with open arms. As a Cub Scouts den mother, she played an active role in shaping young lives with kindness and encouragement. Her home was often filled with laughter and warmth—especially during the holidays when she carried on the tradition of baking Christmas cookies that became cherished family favorites.

Nancy had many passions that brought joy to both herself and those around her. She loved crafting and could often be found engrossed in novels or enjoying time outdoors camping. A dedicated sports fan, she cheered enthusiastically for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She also had a competitive streak—whether it was playing cribbage or participating in an annual Super Bowl pool (which she frequently won). Bowling nights were another favorite pastime where she shared fun-filled moments with friends and family. Her love for excitement extended to casinos and watching the Kentucky Derby—always embracing life’s thrills with enthusiasm.

Her driving skills may have occasionally caused concern among those who rode with her, but they also became part of the many stories that made up the fabric of who she was—a woman full of life who never failed to leave an impression wherever she went.

Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her generosity, humor, and unwavering love for family and friends.
