Nancy V. Smith

November 26, 1932 — November 10, 2015

Nancy V (Klohr) Smith, born in Baltimore, MD on November 26, 1932 succumbed after a seven year battle with dementia – a disease that robbed her of the ability to speak, walk, sit-up and do the most fundamental task, but never succeeded in taking her smile. Up until the end of her life on November 10, 2015, she expressed her love to her family through the sparkle in her eye and the smile on her face. Nancy joins her beloved husband Adrian Leo Smith who left her too soon on February 14, 1987. Nancy was the daughter of William Klohr and Margaret Klohr-Godfrey-Rose of Baltimore, MD

Nancy lived for many years in Middletown, Maryland, before relocating with her family to Massachusetts, and eventually calling New Hampshire her home. She gave freely of her time to many organization, including the Pepperell Women’s Club and the VA Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts, and prior to relocation to New England, Vindobona Nursing Home, Amvets Post 9 Auxiliary, and the Martinsburg WV VA Hospital. She loved planning monthly birthday parties for her close friends in Pepperell and before her illness enjoyed spending her Wednesdays at the Pepperell Senior Center.

Nancy was committed to her family and spent many years caring for them. She leaves behind her much loved sister Mary Ellen Grim, of St. Louis, MO., her daughter Valerie and son-in-law Kyle Morrison of Newark, DE, and her daughter Vivian and son-in-law Tom Thompson of New Ipswich, NH.

Nancy was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Courtney (Thompson) Martineau of Lunenburg, MA, Ryan Morrison of York, ME, Whitney (Thompson) Beauregard of New Ipswich, NH, Ben Morrison of Brooklyn, NY, Kelsey Morrison of Lewes, DE, and Paige Morrison of Newark, DE. She also leaves behind three great granddaughters Jillian and Maddison Martineau and Brooke Beauregard.

Nancy devoted her life to others, and desired to continue to help others after her death. In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, her body has been donated to science via a wonderful non-profit organization, Life Legacy Foundation.

No public services will be held at the request of the family.

When Nancy was a teenager she required life-saving surgery that her family was unable to afford. The Salvation Army generously stepped in and paid for her surgery. In gratitude, the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be forwarded to The Salvation Army National Headquarters, P.O. Box 269, Alexandria, VA 22314, or to Life Legacy Foundation, 6825 E. Outlook Drive, Tucson, AZ 85756.
