Neil E. Roy, 79, of Jaffrey died Tuesday August 12, 2014 at Pheasant Wood Health Center in Peterborough surrounded by his family, from complications of Alzheimer’s
He was born December 26, 1934 in Jaffrey son of the late Edward and Lillian (Letourneau) Roy.
Neil was a lifelong resident of Jaffrey and had attended local schools. He earned his GED in 1984 for which he was very proud.
Neil served with the United States Marine Corps at the end of the Korean Conflict for three years and then enlisted in the US Air Force for a brief period.
Neil worked in shipping and receiving at WW Cross Company in Jaffrey for over
34 years retiring in 1993.
Neil loved to dance and traveled throughout the Monadnock area pursuing this passion.
He also enjoyed bowling and later in life when he was not able to drive, he enjoyed playing bingo with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years Velma (Ramsey) Roy of Rindge; his son John Roy and his life partner Parks Morgan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his two daughters Donna Senechal and husband Scott and Brenda Wood and husband Greg all of Rindge; four grandchildren, Jessica Wood Fedorka and husband Matthew, Michael Wood and wife Katherine, Matthew Smith and Kyle Smith; two step-grandchildren, Brian Wood and Kyle Senechal; one step great grandchild, Taylor Kolb; two brothers Robert Roy of Jaffrey and Gerald Roy of Vero Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews; several sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws.
He was predeceased by his mother in 1961, his father in 1967 and a brother Roland Roy in 1982.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday August 16, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at St. Patrick Church, Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev Wilfred H Deschamps, pastor, will officiate.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours on Saturday at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey
from 10:00AM until the time of the Mass
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
