Nelson E. 'Bob' Letourneau

Nelson E. 'Bob' Letourneau, 93, of North Street, Jaffrey, died peacefully at the Monadnock Community Hospital on Thursday, January 23, 2025, after a period of declining health. 

He was born on July 11, 1931, in Jaffrey, NH, the youngest son of the late Eugene A. and Marie A. (Tremblay) Letourneau. He attended school in Jaffrey and has been a lifelong resident of this community. Bob proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and he was able to travel across Europe and Japan. Following his discharge, he spent 18 years serving with the New Hampshire National Guard. He never missed the opportunity to march in Jaffrey’s Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day parades. 

After returning to Jaffrey, Bob became a cobbler and studied under Tony Ouellette. In 1971 he became the owner and operator of Jaffrey Shoe Repair on River Street for the next 49 years, eventually closing the shop in 2020.

Survivors include his two nephews, Eugene A. Bachand and Francis Bachand, both of East Hampton, MA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is also survived by his dear friends, Michele and Reggie Hatton. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Louis Letourneau in 1977, Lincoln Letourneau in 2012, Francis Letourneau in 2015, and a sister Elizabeth Bachand in 1994, as well as by his nephews, Michael Bachand in 2018 and Kenneth Bachand in 1982. 

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4:00PM to 5:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey. 

Funeral services with Military Honors will be conducted in the funeral home chapel immediately following calling hours at 5:00PM. Deacon Dennis Marquis of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey will officiate. Burial in the family lot will take place in the spring at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.
