Norma Davis Ball, 80, a long-time resident of Jaffrey, NH died with family by her side on November 8, 2015 at the Maplewood Nursing Home.

Norma was born on September 25, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Linevitch) Davis. She was raised in Wilkes Barrre, PA and enjoyed a memorable childhood with her unique clan of siblings.

Norma attended Coughlin High School, where she won the Physics prize her senior year. She graduated from Wilkes College as class valedictorian with a degree in English. As a teacher in New Jersey, she met the love of her life, her late husband, William J. Ball. They moved in the late 1960's with their young family to the Monadnock region.

After her three children were in school, Norma became interested in computer programming languages. She was part of a team that converted the administrative and academic records from mainframe to mini-computer at Franklin Pierce University. She then worked for Digital Equipment Corporation as a principal programmer analyst and later co-owned Computer Directions, a software company specializing in dental office automation with her best friend, Vicki Hall of Rindge, NH. After selling the company, she worked as a consultant at Compaq Computers.

Norma and Bill enjoyed their retirement years together with gardening, cooking, arguing, listening to music, reading and trips to Ogunquit, Maine.

Norma was a smart, wonderful, kind wife, mother, sibling and friend who loved looking up the stars with wonderment while sipping champagne. She also loved to watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation every holiday season. Her family is happy and grateful that she is with her beloved Bill once again.

Survivors include her daughters, Ingrid Ball of Boston, MA, Mary Ball and her partner, Peter Powell of Kayena, Tasmania, Australia, Frances Ball of Charlestown, NH, her brother and sister-in law, Robert and Susan Davis of Wheaton IL, her sister and brother-in law Marylin and Dewitt Davis of Penacook, NH, her sister and brother-in law, Patricia and Al Gaboric of Austin, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Norma’s wishes there will be no formal services. After cremation, her ashes will be scattered with her loving husband in a small private family service at the ocean.
