Olive A. Roy, 95, died peacefully on Monday September 15, 2014, at Summerhill Assisted Living following a brief period of declining health.
Olive was born on April 27, 1919 in Jaffrey NH, daughter of the late Homer and Antoinette (Deschenes) Letourneau. Olive attended Jaffrey schools, graduating from Conant High School in 1937. She married Rene Roy in 1940 and was a Jaffrey resident until 2013 when she moved to Summerhill in Peterborough. Rene passed away in 1992.
Olive worked for Letourneau Gas and Oil, enjoyed knitting and especially dancing with Rene and the Sunshine Twirlers.
Olive is survived by her daughter Anita of Atlanta, Georgia; son Richard and his wife Rosamond Sullivan of Charlottesville, Virginia; and her two grandchildren, Brian Roy and his wife Cathy of Charlottesville, Virginia and Christopher Roy and his wife Sarah of Charlotte, North Carolina and four great- grandchildren; Cooper, Alyson, Maddox, and Brandon.
The Roy family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Summerhill Assisted Living Center for the wonderful care provided to their mother and grandmother.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, immediately following calling hours, at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Jaffrey.
